TRUTH NINE
Being Fluent in Body Language Can Ease Your Journey
OK, darlin’, it’s time for your closeup. You’re hanging out in the bar, breathing a sigh of relief that you’ve made it this far and finally relaxing and having a good time. But don’t forget this is the first part of the night, when the personal decisions you have made up until now begin playing out in public.
What’s the public going to see? What is it, exactly, that you are communicating across the room to anyone who might catch a glimpse of you? Granted, thinking about your body language doesn’t seem as sexy or interesting as figuring out which pair of jeans is the most flattering, but trust us, how you present yourself in a bar is far more important than whatever nonsense you have going on in your head about your fat jeans vs. your thin jeans. An ordinary-looking woman can become completely captivating if she’s animated, while a runway model can look like a total dolt if she just sits there with a blank expression. Remember, these are guys looking at you, and they’re making their instant impressions. A raised eyebrow, a wide smile—these can create impressions that a perfectly fitting (or not) pair of jeans won’t have a chance to.
If you can master these finer points of using your body to allure, you will be able to slay men. And you can, with the beauty your very own body has to offer, however much you might not believe it. You can learn to feel more powerful. Plus, you can save a lot of energy: Knowing how to physically communicate certain parts of your personality will take a hell of a lot less energy than trying to hold a conversation across a deafening bar.
